This is a bronze sutra cylinder with a heaped lid. The lid has a soft raised design and is decorated with many bands. In the center is a short and elegant knob. The cylinder widens toward the bottom and the base is broad with a stable appearance. This design resembles the sutra cylinders unearthed in Kinai (Kyoto, Osaka and Nara). Although the exact origin is not known, the exhibit was perhaps discovered in the Kinai region.
