市河米庵〈いちかわべいあん・1779-1858〉は、江戸時代の書家・儒学者。己亥年、亥日、亥刻の生まれゆえ、名を三亥（さんがい）という。字は孔陽、小春。米庵は、その号。ほかに、楽斎、金洞山人、小山林堂などの別号を持つ。祖父蘭台（らんだい）は細井光沢〈ほそいこうたく・1658-1735〉門、父寛斎〈かんさい・1749-1820〉は昌平黌（昌平坂学問所）学頭であり、ともに儒学、詩文に秀で、書もよくした。幼少時から父の薫育を受け、さらに林述斎〈はやしじゅっさい・1768-1841〉・柴野栗山〈しばのりつざん・1736-1807〉に儒学と漢詩を学んだ。当初、和様の持明院流に入門したが、次第に唐様書道に傾倒して、宋の四大家と称される米芾〈べいふつ・1051-1107〉に私淑、のち長崎で清の胡兆新（こちょうしん）より新しい明清の書風を学んだ。寛政11年〈1799〉、書塾小山林堂を開き、門人は五千余人に及んだという。巻菱湖〈まきりょうこ・1777-1843〉、貫名海屋〈ぬきなかいおく・1778-1863〉と共に「幕末三筆」と称される。行・草の七言二句。安政４年〈1857〉、米庵79歳、すなわち没する前年で、最晩年の筆ながら、重厚で着実な筆運びを見せる。能書米庵の面目躍如の佳作。「老樹、烟（煙）深く、鴬語、静かなり。寿山、雨霽（晴）れ、鶴栖、安らかなり。七十九米翁」
