篠崎小竹〈しのざきしょうちく・1781-1851〉は江戸時代後期の儒者。名は弼（たすく）、字は承弼（しょうひつ）、通称は長左衛門。小竹の号のほか畏堂・南堂・退庵などがある。医師加藤周貞の二男として大坂に生まれたが、９歳で荻生徂来〈おぎゅうそらい・1666-1728〉の古文辞学派の一門である篠崎三島〈しのざきさんとう・1737-1813〉に異才を認められ、13歳で養子となった。その後江戸へ出て、尾藤二洲〈びとうじしゅう・1747-1813〉・古賀精里〈こがせいり・1750-1817〉について朱子学を学び、帰坂後は家塾「梅花社」を継いで、小竹の指導のもと門下は大いに盛えた。また、頼山陽〈らいさんよう・1780-1832〉・田能村竹田〈たのむらちくでん・1777-1835〉らの文人たちと交流し、その中心的存在であった。詩と書に巧みで、詩文の才は宋の詩人・欧陽修〈おうようしゅう・1007-72〉に比せられるほどであったという。これは晩年の揮毫で、その筆致は流麗で雅趣に富んでいる。「鳥の泣き声には時節があるが、松風の音は昔も今も変わらない」という意。出典は不明ながら、晩年に入り、心静かに自然を楽しむ心境をこの詩に託したものであろうか。
