菅茶山〈かんちゃざん・1748-1827〉は、江戸時代後期の儒者。名は晋帥（ときのり）、字は礼卿（れいけい）。茶山と号した。酒造業を営む菅波樗平（すがなみちょへい）の長男として備後国神辺（広島県福山市神辺町）に生まれる。明和３年〈1766〉19歳で京都に遊学、那波魯堂〈なわろどう・1727-89〉に入門して朱子学を学ぶ。幾たびか遊学を重ねた後、天明元年〈1781〉頃、郷里神辺で私塾「黄葉夕陽村舎（こうようせきようそんしゃ）」を開く。のちに福山藩の郷校（村里の学校、庶民教育機関）として認められ、「廉塾（れんじゅく）」と称せられるようになるが、茶山は文政10年〈1827〉にこの世を去るまで、生涯この塾の経営にいそしんだ。著作には詩文集『黄葉夕陽村舎詩』、随筆『筆のすさび』などがある。これは、『黄葉夕陽村舎詩』後編に収められる、「秋日雑咏」十二首の内の一つ。「村園秋色、日に凄清。籬下の陰蟲、晝（＝昼）も亦声あり。橦絮争い開きて、枝愈（いよいよ）重し。瓠瓜熟さんと欲して、架先ず傾く」
