伊藤東涯〈いとうとうがい・1670-1736〉は江戸時代中期の儒者。名は長胤（ながたね）、字は源蔵（げんぞう）。別に慥慥斎（そうそうさい）とも号す。伊藤仁斎〈いとうじんさい・1627-1705〉の長男で、堀川古義堂の第２代。幼少の頃より優れた才を示し、父仁斎について漢学を修めた。彼は生涯仕官せず、父の学問を祖述することに努め、数多くの著書を残した。人柄は沈静寡黙、まことに誠実な学者であった。その門人に宮崎筠圃〈みやざきいんぽ・1717-79〉や青木昆陽〈あおきこんよう・1698-1769〉らがいる。この「先立其大者」（先ず其の大なる者を立つ）は、『孟子』告子章句上にある言葉。筆に墨をたっぷりと含ませ、慎重に筆を運ぶ。重厚な書風は唐様の典型を示す。
