石川丈山〈いしかわじょうざん・1583-1672〉は、江戸時代初期の書家・漢詩人。三河の出身。初名は重之（しげゆき）、名は凹、字は孫助、嘉右衛門と称し、丈山のほか凹凸窠（おうとつか）、大拙、六々山人、東渓など多くの別号がある。祖父・父とともに徳川家康〈とくがわいえやす・1543-1616〉に仕え、大坂夏の陣で軍功をたてた。が、軍令に背いたかどで軍賞をのがした。まもなく京に退隠、出家して禅を学び、藤原惺窩〈ふじわらせいか・1561-1619〉の門に学んだ。のち京都郊外の一乗寺に居を構え、狩野探幽〈かのうたんゆう・1602-74〉の筆による漢～宋代の詩人36人の画像と、自らが揮毫した詩を掲げ、詩仙堂と称して閑居した。書は唐様に徹し、隷書に巧みであった。これは、「夢醒」と題する五言詩。おそらく丈山自身の作詩であろう。得意の隷書体で四行に整然と書写する。大師流の特徴が見え隠れするのが興味深い。落款に「凹凸道人八十二歳」とあり、寛文３年〈1663〉の執筆とわかる。料紙の形状・寸法から、色紙帖あるいは色紙貼交屏風のために、求められて揮毫したものではなかったか。
