池田治政〈いけだはるまさ・1750-1818〉は、岡山藩第５代の藩主。初名は敏政、のち新十郎と称した。明和元年〈1764〉、父宗政〈むねまさ・1727-64〉の遺領を継ぎ元服、同時に10代将軍徳川家治〈とくがわいえはる・1737-86〉の一字を賜わって治政を名乗る。江戸の藩邸に在っては江戸城の濠さらいをはじめ関東・東海道の土木工事に功績を残す。また、藩政においては、藩校閑谷学校（しずたにがっこう）の再興に尽力、名藩主で聞こえた。この句は、考えに邪念がないという意である。もともと『詩経』に採られた句で、魯の僖公（きこう・?-BC627）が、始祖姫伯禽（きはくきん・?-BC997）の法に邪念なく従い、よく馬を養って国を富ませたことを称えた言葉。これを孔子〈こうし・BC551-BC479〉が『論語』の中で、『詩経』のすべての作品に通ずる言葉として賞讃したことにより、古来、人口に膾炙する句として親しまれている。絹本にこの３文字を大書する。激しい筆の動きによる独特の構図が魅力である。治政の心情の激しさを物語るものであろうか。求められての揮毫であろう。
