Kazanin Yoshinori (1755-1829) was a noble of the latter part of the Edo Period. Although born as the second son of Nakayama Hidechika (1709-1771), Yoshinori was adopted by Kazanin Nagahiro. He climbed to the government post of Minister of the Right of the Lower First Rank. Admired as a born calligrapher, Yoshinori mastered the Daishi School, patterned after the Reverend Kobo Daishi Kukai. The exhibited piece, celebrating longevity, clearly reflects the majestic features of this school.
