薄以量〈すすきもちかず・1436-96〉は、本姓は橘（たちばな）氏。薄氏は敏達天皇〈びだつてんのう・538-585〉の皇子難波王（なにわおう）を出自とする系譜を残すが、各人の詳しい伝記は不明である。以量は、昇進は必ずしもはかばかしくなく、明応５年〈1496〉４月23日、61歳の高齢でようやく非参議・従三位に至り、それから10日余りのちの５月５日に没している。三条西実隆〈さんじょうにしさねたか・1455-1537〉の日記『実隆公記』によれば、画才に恵まれていたという。その書は、後円融天皇〈ごえんゆうてんのう・1358-93〉の勅筆流に属する。歌題は別筆。
