ロバに乗ったキリストの物語イニシャル
聖枝祭（シュロの主日）の朝課の朗読（『エレミヤ書』2:31）を含む零葉。聖枝祭はイエスのエルサレム入場を記念する祝日で、福音書には「弟子たちは行って、イエスが命じられたとおりにし、ロバと子ロバを引いて来て、その上に服をかけると、イエスはそれにお乗りになった。大勢の群衆が自分の服を道に敷き、また、ほかの人々は木の枝を切って道に敷いた」（『マタイによる福音書』21:7–8）と記されている。その記述に対応して、冒頭の5行分の高さの物語イニシャル ‘V’のなかには、ロバに乗ってエルサレムに入場するキリストが描かれている。（TM）
