今城為親〈いまきためちか・1575-1610〉は、中山親綱〈なかやまちかつな・1544-98〉の二男。為親は同家14代にあたったが、家督は兄・慶親（よしちか）が嗣ぐこととなり、彼は別家を立てて中山冷泉（なかやまれいぜい）を号した。のち、為親から数えて３代定淳〈さだあつ・1635-1689〉のときから、姓を今城と称し、さかのぼって為親をその祖とした。為親は従四位下・右近衛少将に進み、慶長15年〈1610〉７月、36歳で没した。歌道・書道に秀で、書は、書流史では三条流に属する。この短冊は、充実した筆致から、30代に入ってからの執筆と推定される。歌題は別筆。
