紺紙に銀泥で界を引き、金字で『法華経』を書写した断簡。もとは巻子本であったが、保存のために解体し、表紙を剥離して、表裏と本紙巻頭部分を合装したもの。紺紙は、漉きあがった紙を藍の染料液の中に浸して染める浸染めという技法により製作される。浸染めをいくどとなく繰り返したすえに染めあがる濃い紺色は、もと瑠璃の色を表し、仏教でいう七宝の一つとして崇められる。また、紺紙と金字の組み合わせは、古くより仏国土に連想が及ぶものであった。表紙（右）には宝相華唐草文（牡丹・芍薬・芙蓉などのモチーフを組み合わせた空想的な花唐草文。唐代に流行した装飾文様）を、見返し（中）には『法華経』巻第十六「寿量品」の説く良医治子喩（名医が我が子の病を治した譬え話）の経意を、それぞれ金泥で描く。経文の書風、表紙・見返し絵の画風から、鎌倉時代初期・13世紀の遺品と推定される。
