平安時代後期、法隆寺が諸寺にならって学問寺としての充実を図る目的で、勧進書写または収集して聖霊院に安置された写経は「法隆寺一切経」と呼ばれる。各巻に「法隆寺一切経」の黒印が捺されている。承徳３年〈1099〉の年紀を含む「法隆寺結縁一切経」が第１期、永久２年〈1114〉から元永元年〈1118〉にかけての僧・勝賢の勧進による2700余巻が第２期、さらに保安３年〈1122〉から大治６年〈1131〉にかけて僧・林幸の勧進による4400余巻が追加され、通常の一具5048巻をはるかに超える7000巻にものぼる厖大な数量であった。これは、『華厳経』巻第二五の断簡。平安時代後期の自由で平明な雅趣の書風を見ることができる。
