持明院基孝〈じみょういんもとたか・1520-1611〉は、世尊寺家の後をうけた入木道（じゅぼくどう）持明院家の初代基春〈もとはる・1453-1535〉、２代基規〈もとのり・1492-51〉に続く第３代当主。極官は正二位・権中納言。戦乱のなか都に留まり、92歳という当時としては稀有な長寿で没するまで現役の公卿を全うした。能書活動の記録は失われているが、おびただしい数の「持明院入木道誓紙（書法の伝授を受けた者が提出した誓約状）」を伝えており、数多くの人々に筆法を授けたことが知られる。 この短冊は、歌題の右肩に書かれた置字「い」を歌の頭に置いて詠んだもの。筆線にふるえが見えるところから、老年期の執筆と思われる。歌題は別筆。
