烏丸光広〈からすまるみつひろ・1579-1638〉は准大臣光宣〈みつのぶ・1549-1611〉の子。叙爵以来順調に昇進したが、慶長14年〈1609〉宮廷女房らと集団輪姦事件を起こし、勅勘を蒙り配流の身となった。が、徳川家康〈とくがわいえやす・1542-1616〉の仲介により赦され、還任後は正二位・権大納言にまで至った。多才多芸にして和歌や連歌・書画・茶道などを能くし、和歌は細川幽斎〈ほそかわゆうさい・1534-1610〉に学び古今伝授を受けて、家集『黄葉（こうよう）和歌集』を残した。また能書家としても知られ、光広流ともいえる不羈奔放な自流の書風を生み出し、「寛永の三筆（近衛信尹・本阿弥光悦・松花堂昭乗）」と並び称された。この短冊の料紙は、藍の裏紙に金泥で松葉を散らしたもの。持明院（じみょういん）流に加えて光悦流の筆勢が投影した書風から、壮年期の書写か。歌題にある「松露（しょうろ）」とはキノコの一種で、海辺の松林の砂中に生じ、春、秋に採集して食用にするものである。親しい友人に宛てた短冊であろう。
