In 1598, he was admitted into Shoren-In to take the tonsure and train under Prince Ryojo (1574-1643). After he grew up, he was appointed Archbishop and Hoin (lit. \u201cseal of the law\u201d) and served as Prelate of Tendaiji Temple on two different occasions. Prince Sonjun died at age 63 (1653). Thoroughly familiar with the traditional ways and administration under different prelates of Shoren-In, Prince Sonjun took part in the re-editing of Prince Son-en\u2019s book, the \u201cMonyo Ki\u201d (temple administrative records of Shoren-In).
