"],"en":["Reizei Tamemitsu (1559-1619), the son of Tameyoshi(1516-1570), was a court noble and poet of the early Edo Period. In his youth, he fell out of the favor of Emperor Ohgimachi(1517-93), so he went down to Sakai(Osaka Prefecture), where he lived without honor and rank much of his life. It was in his old age that he was finally appointed Provisional Major Counselor. As the heir apparent of the Reizei Family, known for kado, or waka writing and teaching, Tamemitsu had been trained rigorously by his father, and later, successfully played the role of traditional poetry master. The waka written on this kaishi is titled \u201cPine Trees Promise of Everlasting Spring\u201d. The date of its writing can be traced to the New Year\u2019s Poetry Party of January 19, 1612. Tamemitsu, aged 54, wrote with a confident and powerful brush of the Teika School. Actually, among the many successors of the Teika School, Tamemitsu is considered one of the very best.
