At the mere age of 24, he was appointed to Minister of the Right, a post he could barely fulfill due to an illness, and records say that he stayed home year after year. Ultimately, his title was raised to Junior First Rank, and he was given the official administrative post of Minister of the Left, but he is known to have spent his latter years without serving any such government posts. The tanzaku that begins with \u201cEven a dull-minded\u2026\u201d is signed simply \u201cKoh\u201d, a one-character signature used by Norihira. Fit for a calligrapher trained under the Konoe School, following the style popularized by Konoe Nobutada, Norihira\u2019s hand is powerful and yet flexible with free-flowing lines.
